If I knew it was this easy to get started I would have done it a lot sooner. Picking a topic was tough but I have settled on one of my favorites, the real estate bubble. Macroeconomics, greed, speculation, the madness of crowds, and ultimately collapse.
I have narrowed it down to a specific location that in my experience has gotten very little coverage in the blogosphere or mainstream press, the islands along the coast of central South Carolina. Although the islands themselves are unique in their own ways, they all have one thing very much in common, a 500-1000% rise in property values from the early 1990's to the mid 2000's.
The housing bubble was as prevalent along the beaches here as anywhere in the country. But prices are now moving lower almost as fast as they moved up. When will the market turn back around? What is a fair price to pay for that second home or investment property today?
I will do my best to answer these questions and many more as I work to figure out just how this blogging thing works. Come back often and let me know what you think.
